Argh!, It's hard to get any work done in the rain. Normal for San Diego is 10 in. per year. This year we have had 25 in. of rain most in March and April right when we decided to play in the ground. The trials of preparing your lot and building a house.

This is the south wall, approx 250 Ft. in length. Over 1600 cmu's were laid in this wall. Ron was faster than I, but I was faster than the laborers! I did approx 150 cmu's on this day. As Yoda would say, Sore afterwards I was!

The wall is getting close to being finished, Almost a football field long. It's been a longer than expected and wet process. Ron our artists/concrete guru has done an incredible job in adverse conditions managing the site
With just a little imagination, and a years time you can see our vineyard of 175 to 200 grapevines that will be planted in this area. Digging into the slope a bit, there will be a 450 sq. ft. two room wine cellar under the Herons' House.

The wall has eight pilasters spaced 30 ft apart. I am custom making the 24 in. pilaster caps out of copper. Hand hammered with copper nails into the wood and then heat sealed. You can see the results in the future updates.
