Demolition of the house took place August 15th and 16th.
We will use this event to shift our photography into black and white during the building of "Heron's House" and the reconstruction of the "Egret" We will also shift away from monthly updates and now go to project updates such as demolition, foundations, framing etc.
Demolition was contracted out to Dirt Cheap Demolition. they did a fantastic job, and kept the job site neat at all times. By weight, over 95% of the demolished house is recycled. Doors, windows, cabinets and everything including the "kitchen sink" is recycled. The wood beams down to the 2by4's and plywood is recycled into wood or paper products. The entire concrete slab, foundation and patio slabs are crushed and recycled into new concrete. The bricks from the fireplace are also cleaned of mortar and re-used.
