Imagination and Creativity
Give a child the tools of imagination and creativity and they shall build a world far greater than any adult can conceive.
Ole Kirk Cristiansen
Imagine a world... where your personal car and your home need only the energy of the sun. Now imagine how profoundly that would effect your neighborhood, your city, our country and the world.
Creativity allows us to put into motion our imagination. Creativity allows us to transform imagination and dreams, into the practical reality of today. Imagination and creativity allow us to change our world for the greater. Stretch, dream, fearlessly express your creativity.
Without creation, you are but a wandering daydreamer, Without imagining, you create plainness.
It is my personal belief that mankind is on the verge of the biggest change in the history of our time on earth. Not since the change from the steam engine to the internal combustion engine have we witnessed the change that is unfolding before us today.
The Toyota Prius Hybrid has ingrained itself into the automobile world. The first electric drive train and battery combo to be accepted by the masses. Now hybrids are the norm and being improved. A new class of full electric neighborhood vehicles and plug in hybrids getting 100mpg + are the next step. In a very short decade or two, full electric vehicles, hopefully powered by the sun from each household will be the norm. The internal combustion engine will join the steam engine on the mantel of history.
That is not a game changer....it is a world changer.
Herons' House has as an ethos, the desire to walk lightly. From the very first thought and posting on our website nearly a year before construction began:
Julie and I are building our home, reusing an old house on a large lot as a good beginning, perched above the lagoon and Pacific Ocean. Like the Herons, we will walk lightly on earth, using the resources provided to us by nature, in harmony and partnership with our environment, with each other.
Our home and our auto are powered using the resources provided by nature, by the sun.
We remember the rudimentary first cell phone with the briefcase size battery pack that would only work in few select places. We remember the first video camera for consumers, it was like carrying a microwave on your shoulder with a bandolier of batteries wrapped around your waist. Today both those devices are smaller than the palm of your hand, work everywhere, and are ubiquitous.
We remember 20 years ago being able to get on this thing called the internet. We remember ten years ago going into a TV store and only being able to buy a CRT big box Television. Flat screens did not exist. Today CRT TV's do not exist.
The electric car is in that rudimentary stage, just like that first cell phone. It has limited range and speed. That said, We love our Gem Car! It is very practical andl handles 75% of our daily chores. Take a look at this website to see what is right around the corner. http://www.teslamotors.com/
I'll write more at length about our systems and how I feel this is affordable to all, in Peder's Corner very soon.
Oh, I also believe in Santa Claus :)

Pretty amazing view to the east with snow on the Laguna's and Julian.
