Just a few nice shots of our wine cellar. Next week we begin to make our first batch of wine. We will use 160 lbs. of Sangiovese grapes  and make about 12 gallons of finished wine, approx. 60 bottles. I have purchased  wine making equipment for this small batch size. 

For the next three years while our vines grow, we will refine our wine making skills with small batches.

When the vineyards at Herons' House are mature we will be making about 800 bottles a year, and racking, bottling and storing our wine in our 450 sq. ft. two room wine cellar.

Both rooms in the cellar are temperature and humidity controlled. One room is where the racking is for 1100 bottles with capacity for adding another 900. The larger room is our tasting room.

If we were to cellar wine in both rooms the capacity would be approx 10,000 bottles.

The cellar is 75% subterranean  and is located underneath and to the south of the main house.
