October 6th,
Another beautiful sunrise.
Herons' House is oriented on the lot facing south about 140 ft higher than the lagoon. This gives us great views of both sunrises over the Laguna mountains to the east, and sunsets over the lagoon.
The Nana systems in the kitchen and music room open up the house to the outside, eliminating the distinction between inside and outside. When your at the kitchen counter it feels as if you are outside.

The NANA window system is 15 ft long and four ft. high. Since the kitchen is on the second floor, we have had zero problems with flying bugs.

The ovens are made by Viking and are gas fired 36in wide commercial models with convection and a 1500% searing unit on both ovens. The ovens are recessed into the massive central chimney, the door goes to the outside music room and we use it when the NANA system is closed.

Bosch range and dishwasher.

Believe it or not, that's a Sears Kenmore cabinet depth refrigerator and freezer with an optional trim kit. Each has a capacity of 20 sq. ft. The low height of the units allows us to get a full length cabinet above. Not that we penny pinched, but these units were very inexpensive, and were the best fit for our application regardless of brand. The cabinets were custom designed around the units.

The sink is 34 in. and 11in. deep. It is solid copper and we had our Herons' House logo hand hammered into the sink as well as other sinks in the house. The granite is San Francisco Verde and was installed by Randy Jacobs of Amazonia Stone.
