Part two of our most excellent architectural adventure!

The Farnsworth House.

The Farnsworth House, built by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in 1951 and located near Plano, Illinois, is one of the most famous examples of modernist domestic architecture and was considered unprecedented in its day. That from the website of the home owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Herons' House draws inspiration heavily from two sources. One is the Prairie school of architecture and the principles contained therein. The other is the clean sophisticated modernist architecture, in my opinion best represented by the design of the Danish company Bang & Olufsen. The headquarters of Bang & Olufsen in Struer Denmark, and the building draws heavily from the Farnsworth house for it's design.

The Farnsworth house was inspiring and one of the greatest homes I have ever set foot into.
