This past month most of the work has been done on the
inside, we have installed and finished 70 wood windows and exterior doors. We
have also installed three fireplaces and we have begun the process of installing
the elevator by preparing the elevator shaft.
All three of the fireplaces will be wood burning, one will be in
the family room, one in the dining room and one on the sleeping porch. All total
between Heron's House and the Egret there will be four fireplaces plus the fire
pit.
A core principles of Heron's House was to have our home be accessible
to all. We have friends and family that have mobility issues and being
able to share our entire home as opposed to one floor was a must for Julie and
me. The inside dimensions of the elevator will be just over four ft. deep
and three and half ft wide. The elevator can hold four people and 1000 lbs.
Our elevator is from Infinity Elevators

Although an expensive item, we are very happy with the decision to install and
elevator in Heron's House. The following link is a great video of
the elevator in operation.

This is our exact elevator. Our elevator will have a cheery
wood floor to match the flooring in the house.

This is the outside fireplace on the sleeping porch. The nana wall system is boarded up to prevent damage to the windows during construction.
