More pictures from the first floor as the framing progresses. The wine cellar is really starting to take shape! The lower level of the lot is about 275 ft long and that is where the vineyard, approx 150 vines will be planted. The front of the Egret will also have a vineyard area of approx 30 vines.  The sheeting on the top of the cellar will be an outside deck with double French doors from the inside to the outside.

The Egret is the existing two story part of the house. In two weeks we start the reconstruction of the Egret. We will be removing the roof, installing a hip roof, new windows and doors and new openings. Basically the whole house will come down to the skeleton and be rebuilt.

Today, the large beams were placed with a petibone that has a "stinger" on the end. Friday and Saturday will be joist and floor systems.

The view pic is from the ground level by the waterfall, the building on the other side of the lagoon is the Gemological Institute of America (GIA)  and the shiny area is the strawberry fields. When you are on the second floor, the view of the lagoon and ocean is spectacular and panoramic.

About twice a week, I walk my cobra kayak with small trailer wheels, the three or four blocks to the lagoon. Agua Hedionda lagoon is about 1.5 miles long and .5 miles wide. As you drive north on Hwy 5, this is the lagoon with the water skiing and jet skis.  The inland half of the lagoon is reserved for kayaks and wind surfers.

Thor, our dog,  is a pretty good kayaker as well, when he goes with I take the tandem and he sits in the front seat :)
