Its fall, that's for sure!
We had some rain on the 15th, 16th and 17th that stopped progress for a few days. This morning we had a plumbing inspection for our rough plumbing and that went great. We can now backfill the plumbing trenches and prepare the foundation and slab. We expect to pour the slab by the 27th of October. We have lumber being delivered on the 1st of November.
The vineyard wall and the outside kitchen wall are now 80% completed. When they are completed that will end the block work until after the house is built. That should take six months, after that we will then build the pilasters on top of the lot and the flatwork for the dining and cooking and patio areas.
This week and next week we will be facing the pilasters and the vineyard wall with ledgerstone. At the end of the week we will put the final smooth color coat on the walls and they will be finished! The ledgerstone is real rock from KRC. It's more expensive than the more common rock veneer that is made from cement but the look and durability of real rock makes it the best choice. Our preference throughout the project will be to use natural materials whenever possible.
It's surprising how much space we have on the back of the lot and as we lay it out and build it we can see that it will be a great place to entertain friends and family! As we started to build the vineyard walls and we set the plumbing in for the outdoor kitchen, as well as the large boulders for the creek, we could for the first time see the wonderful design of the landscaping plan. Many thanks to Rich Risner of www.grounded101.com for the great design.
